Spacetime is a conjoined substance?

If you throw relativity to the back burner, what other thing could explain gravitational lensing?

Say you are looking at a planet and you see light bend in its path due to the planet being in the way. Is it space itself bending or is it simply the light being refracted by the present gravity? Almost like how a magnifying glass works.

Which is the more realistic answer? Light being bent from a gravitational effect or light bending because space itself is bending to give way for the light?

The fabric of spacetime is an error, but an understandable error. So much math has been constructed around this ideal that it becomes its own answer and the declaration that the answer is solidified has removed the attempt to continue to question the concept.

No one has definitively proven what gravity is and what specific criteria is involved in its existence. The only thing we really know is that it exists and the quantity of which is reasonably figured by evaluating the quantity of mass present in an object of mass. Which mind you an object of mass can be as small as a photon to as large as Beetlejuice. But objects of mass can also be a culmination of its constituent parts such as a planetary system, galaxy, and even a group of galaxies.

While a baseball has an amount of gravity so does the earth that it is gravitational linked to and son on until you see the relationship between the ball and the black hole at the center of our galaxy.

Does the black hole and the baseball have a direct gravitational link? No. But are they gravitationally linked? Yes.

The concept of space time can be described easily as the linkage of quadrillions of gravitational aware bodies being gravitationally linked whether directly or indirectly.

The suns own gravitational field by itself reaches the nearest stars and those stars return that reach, but the concept that the entire solar systems quantity of mass, cumulatively including Jupiter and other masses, has a combined quantity of mass and gravity that also rides with the suns gravity to make the solar system as a whole gravitationally aware.

This multilayered onion of gravity from billions of gravitational aware bodies is what causes light refraction. Not spacetime magically bending to give way for a ray of light around a body of mass.

Using this construct of intellect instead of relativity in its current form changes so much of the equations regarding relativity.

The simplest explanation is almost always the most reasonable and logical. But scientists are trying to understand things they haven’t built adequate testing for. It’s like trying to teach a 4-year-old advanced accounting technique. The likely hood of being successful is quite low.

The universe and the principles in which it exists is just that way, concepts and mechanics that humanity has not came even remotely close to being able to define adequately. Just because the math works, doesn’t necessarily mean the right numbers are being put into the equation.

Space, in of itself, is the lack of matter and energy. Space, in of itself, has no structure. Time, in any form abstract or not, does not exist. Matter exists within a chain of events constantly evolving from one form to another. Matter exists without time. It simply is what it is at the moment it is.

The thing missing from relativity is the lack of time and the conclusion that space in of itself is void. Then what you have left is matter and mass and its gravitational awareness. This changes everything about relativity in its current form.
