A Universal Basic Income (UBI) wouldn’t even need to be discussed if the cost of living, healthcare, and educational advancement weren’t so exorbitant.

Every year, the cost of everything rises, which doesn’t make any sense. If you buy a pickup truck in 2015 and then buy another one in 2017 with the exact same features and add-ons, the 2017 version will cost more. Why? An economist would say inflation. But why is our dollar worth less each year?

Take the 1960s, for example. People made a dollar or two per hour, yet their standard of living was better than it is today when the average working-class citizen makes over $40,000 a year. Why?

Here’s why:

People want to make more money, and the actual value of that money doesn’t concern them. They are emotionally infatuated with the large number in their bank account. What they can actually do with that money is beside the point.

Buying power is disregarded. Quantity outweighs quality. It’s literal immaturity, even among the most refined.

If this trend continues, it will eventually cost $100,000 for a basic pickup truck, yet the working class will only make a small margin more than they do now.

People’s hunger for more money, while disregarding its actual value, is why everything costs so much. The foolishness of it is astounding.

Inflation is nothing more than a carrot in front of an idiot’s face, making them push forward until their lives are dominated by the simple acquisition of more cash just to survive. The rich stay rich and are technically above this but are still trapped by their own motivations.

It doesn’t matter how much money you have if every penny of it is worthless after a year or two.

Will you people learn?
